Volunteer Application

 Volunteer Application / Background Check

The First step to becoming a Coach, Referee or any other AYSO volunteer. You will need to complete an online application and select a volunteer role.

A volunteer form must be filled out for every season. For example, if you want to be a coach for the Fall and Spring, you will need to fill out a volunteer form for each season. Referees and Board Members are an exception. When you are registering to become a referee or board member, you will need to select the proper program for a Referee or a Board Member and you will only have to fill out the application one time for the current AYSO year.

How to fill out your volunteer form:

There are two ways to fill out the volunteer form.

Method 1: This the easiest method.  If you did not sign-up as a volunteer using method 1, you can still sign up by using method 2.
For those that are registering a child to participate in one of AYSO programs, can use this method. During the registration of the player, the system will give you an opportunity to register as a volunteer or invite another parent to start the registration process. After you complete the volunteer form, you will immediately get an email to complete your background check. It is important that you complete the background check asap. Once the background check is completed, it usually takes about 5 days for the background check to clear. Once your background check has been cleared, you will be able to access all the online training courses.

Method 2: You can use this method If you don't have a child in AYSO or you did not register as a volunteer when registering your child in method 1
Step 1 Log into your account
http://www.ayso111.org

Step 2Click on "Volunteer" in the left Column

Step 3Click on "FIND VOLUNTEER ROLES" in the upper right

Step 4 scroll down to see which season you would like to volunteer for and Click "Select" for the role or roles you would like to volunteer for.

Step 5 either select "Sign up a registered user" or "Sign up a new user"

  • "Sign up a registered user", will allow you to select a registered user that has an account on our site
  • "Sign up a new user", will allow you to invite another family member to register an account on the site to become a volunteer

Step 6 After step five, continue the online application
Step 7 After you have completed the online application, you will receive an email to complete your background check. Without your background check. You cannot access any training. It will take about 5 days for your background check to complete. Once your background check comes back OK, you will have access to the online training

CA Mandated Fingerprinting

CA Mandated Fingerprinting

CALIFORNIA AB 506 - BACKGROUND CHECK/LIVESCAN UPDATE FOR CA VOLUNTEERS

As of January 1 of this year, all administrators, employees and regular volunteers in California MUST have a one-time background check as approved by the California Department of Justice to exclude individuals with a history of child abuse. This form of background check requires live scan fingerprinting.

To clarify, a REGULAR VOLUNTEER is a person who has direct contact with children 16 hours a month or 32 hours per year, which applies to most coaches, referees, team parents, and board members who spend 2 or more hours on the field weekly.

 Notes:
  1. As of now, this is a onetime scan and does not need to be done again. Unless the law changes.
  2. You cannot go to any place to have the LIVESCAN or finger printing done. You will need to go to a specific location that AYSO has partner with.
  3. If already had a LIVESCAN done from another organization, you cannot use the Background Check/LIVESCAN from another organization. You must complete the one AYSO is offering you

When you are ready to register for your LIVESCAN, follow the instructions below:
  1. First, you need to complete your volunteer application before any code will be given out.
  2. Once you complete your volunteer application, then request a prepaid coupon code from your Coordinator.
    1. If you are volunteering for a girls team, contact the girls Coordinator for the code at [email protected]. If you are volunteer for a boys team, contact the Registrar at [email protected]
  3. Once you have the code, you will need to click the link below to register for an appointment to have the LIVESCAN done. All details on what to do are in the site, including locations to get fingerprinted at. Also, you will need to know that our Region is Region 111

APPROPRIATE AGE COACH LICENSE - HOW TO TAKE THE CLASS

Appropriate Age Coach License

This is onetime class or until AYSO/Federal/State LAWS Mandate that we take an undated version of the class
How-to sign-up for the online Appropriate Age Coach License

Age-Specific Training - 6U, 8U, 10U & 12U Coach certifications
These four coaching courses focus on working with the player in these age divisions to create a fun learning environment. Coaches in 6U, 8U, 10U & 12U must have the age specific coach certification for the age they are coaching. There are no substitutes nor will higher level courses satisfy the requirement. These courses have no pre-requisite and may be taken individually or in any order.
CertificationPrerequisites
6U Coach-Nothing
8U Coach-Nothing
10U Coach-Nothing
12U Coach-Nothing

Intermediate, Advanced and National Coach certifications
These upper-level courses build upon each other, thus a coach with the Advanced Coach certification may also coach teams needing only the Intermediate Coach certification. However, these do not confer the age-specific certification needed to coach 6U-12U. A coach who holds an Intermediate Coach or above certification and wishes to coach in 10U, must also hold a 10U Coach certification. 14U coaches must have at least the Intermediate Coach certification. 16U and 19U coaches must have the Advanced Coach certification. The National Coach certification is for coaches who desire to further advance their skills and offer a greater level of support to their region.

CertificationPrerequisites
